Principles met

  • We will develop systems that enable citizens to be equal partners in designing and commissioning public services and in determining the use of public resources.
  • We will promote community-based approaches to economic development that focus on supporting the creation of jobs, social enterprises and other businesses and providing an environment for co-operative and mutual enterprises to thrive.
  • We will capture and ‘expand’ the experience and learning from individual projects and approaches in order to encourage broader application of co-operative principles within individual member Councils and across the Network.

A hopeful, prosperous and healthy future for our children and future generations depends on the conditions that we create now.

From 2022, with support from the Health Foundation, Salford has been part of the Economies for Healthier Lives programme, alongside Glasgow city-region, Havant, Leeds and Liverpool city-region.

The programme aimed to strengthen relationships between economic development and health. It was about using local economic development strategies to improve health and reduce health inequalities.

Our vision is for a fairer and more inclusive local economy that delivers greater social and environmental justice, where wealth is shared more widely across all communities.

Unlimited Potential facilitated a city-wide community wealth project on behalf of Partners in Salford. The approach is summarised in Fairer, Greener, Healthier. Our grower’s guide to nurturing an inclusive and green economy.

The project enabled economic development and public health professionals to deepen their working partnerships and mutual understanding. We have learned that, together, they can create complementary plans that spread wealth, reduce inequalities and improve health for a more prosperous future.
