Members’ Update March 2023

  • 6th Mar 2023

Thank you to everyone that met the deadline for the 2023 edition of our Case Studies brochure; we're still waiting for a few more submissions, so please help us by getting your case studies in asap. This is our showcase publication, and we love to promote the fabulous work taking place across the Network. Thanks also to those of you who have submitted funding submissions for Policy work. The deadline was 28th February, and I know that a great deal of work went into the collaborative bids.

In February, we attended the Labour Local Government Conference in Nottingham, where we held a very successful breakout session on Cooperative Councils in Action.  We’ll be featuring some of those presentations on our website and in our newsletters as blogs in the coming months.  Also, in February, we exhibited at the Scottish Labour Conference in Edinburgh, where we met several MSPs, councillors and supporters who were all very interested in how we promote the Cooperative Difference in local government.

In March, we’re inviting members to find out more about our Policy Lab to develop a Councils’ Cooperative Development Toolkit by participating in an online workshop on 27 March.  This exciting project is being led by Kirklees Council and match-funded by Affiliate members Power to Change

For those of you looking out for the call for applications for the Coop of the Year Awards – we’ve been advised by Co-operatives UK that this event will take place in November.  We’ll let you know when the details are announced.

Finally, congratulations to all those members shortlisted in this year’s LGC Awards; the full shortlist is available below.

I hope that you enjoy this edition of Update and good luck to everyone involved in campaigning over the coming weeks.

Best wishes

Louise
