Welcome to the March edition of Update

Councillor Sharon Taylor OBE

Dear Member

Thank you to everyone that joined us online for our Annual Conference ‘Co-operative Approaches to Pandemic Recovery’ on 15 and 16 February, where we welcomed over 140 registered delegates.

We had an amazing two days of innovation, information-sharing & inspiration with Network colleagues from all over the UK.  During the conference, we launched three major policy reports on ‘understanding the digital divide‘, ‘cooperative approaches to net-zero‘ and ‘the cooperative difference in care‘.

On Tuesday we had a ‘deep dive’ into new economic thinking as we heard from community banking project leads in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales along with the CEO of the European Association of Co-operative Banks.  In this edition, you can re-watch the videos from all those sessions as well as from the nine excellent Workshops promoting several of our ongoing policy labs and policy prototype projects.  Thank you to all of our wonderful speakers, without whom these events would not happen.  We also heard from Alex Norris MP, Shadow Minister for Levelling Up, Housing, Communities & Local Government and his views on what Levelling Up looks like following the launch of the Governments White Paper.  Steve Reed OBE, MP was unable to join us at this year’s conference but you can read his latest blog below.

On Wednesday, the day we launched our report on ‘the co-operative difference in care’, we heard from Feryal Clark MP, Shadow Minister for Primary Care & Patient Safety and Baroness Brinton, Liberal Democrat Health and Social Care Spokeswoman in the House of Lords.

At our AGM we launched a new website for the Network and the timetable for this year’s funding round.  More details are below.

A final thank you to Ed Bremner from the Co-operative College who worked with us to ensure that all of the technical aspects of an online conference went smoothly.

I hope that you enjoy this Member Update.

Stay safe.

Sharon
