Members Update – July 2025
- 30th Jun 2025
Along with our regular member news, I have a significant update to share with you. After nine years in the role, Nicola Huckerby will step back from her position leading the CCIN in October. During that time, the CCIN has expanded from 19 to 143 members and is recognised as the fastest-growing cross-party Network in Local Government, a testament to Nicola’s passion, determination, and exceptional ability to get things done! A task force of Governance and Officer Network representatives met in Birmingham last month to help focus our efforts on delivering Network activity going forward. Several reports will be considered, including a review of our legal structure at the Executive Oversight Committee on 17 July. In the meantime, regular service will continue, with three in-person events scheduled for this week and several webinars planned for the coming months. We’re keeping busy!
Well done to the winners in the LGC Awards: Telford & Wrekin scooped Council of the Year and Plymouth City Council took home two Awards! Details of the other winners are below.
Congratulations to Scott Darraugh MBE, Chief Executive at Social adVentures and Tony Armstrong OBE, Chief Executive at Locality, who were both recognised in the King’s Birthday Honours. We’re delighted to have both Scott and Tony within our network as Affiliate Members.
Finally, we’re looking forward to seeing many of you on Stand C10 at the LGA Conference this week. We’ll be launching two of our latest Policy Lab reports on Wednesday, 2nd July (see invite below) – the Social Value Toolkit (formerly led by Oxford City Council) and Tackling Violence Against Women and Girls (led by Trafford Council). If you’re in Liverpool, Manchester or Rochdale this week, please come along to the stand and pick up your copy of the 2025 edition of the Case Studies Pack.
I hope that you enjoy this edition of Update, and wish you a Happy International Coops Day on Saturday, 5th July.
Best wishes
Jim
