Dear Member

A cooperative welcome to this edition of Update and Happy #CoopFortnight

The Network continues to grow apace, and last month we welcomed the City of York Council and Swindon Borough Council as Full Members and South Swindon Parish Council as Associate Members.  That brings the total number of members and supporters to 134.  We’re delighted that all Members will receive FREE places at this year’s Annual Conference in Sunderland this November, where we hope to meet many of you.

We have had another busy month with our Executive Oversight Committee and Values and Principles Board meetings.  Once approved the minutes for all of our Governance meetings are posted on our website. We have organised an online session for Leaders and Cooperative Leads to promote interest in Community and Regional Banks, where speakers from across the UK shared updates on their projects.  We have also run Workshops at Cooperative Congress – thanks to Cllrs Matthew Brown, Mike Stubbs, and Ajaz Rehman, who joined me and Cllr Clare Gamble, Cllr John Cotton and Mayor Philip Glanville, who spoke at the Coop Party Local Government Conference on what it meant to be a Cooperative Council.

We’re looking forward to next week’s LGA Conference in Bournemouth, when we can meet again in person and speak to potential new members.  We’re on Stand P2, so come along and say hello.  We particularly wanted to thank Affiliate Members Oxygen Finance for inviting our Members to a Networking event during the LGA Conference.  This has become a tradition, and we’re most grateful.

Finally, I wanted to extend special thanks to the Policy Team at Hackney Council, who briefed Meg Hillier MP for a Parliamentary debate last week, including a name-check for the CCIN and the work its members are doing across the UK.  Watch the recording.

I wish you all a very Happy International #CoopsDay on 1st July, and that you enjoy this edition of Update.

Best wishes

Louise
