CCIN Members’ Update – June 2022

  • 31st May 2022

Welcome to the June edition of Update

Councillor Sharon Taylor OBE

Chair of the CCIN
Leader of Stevenage Borough Council

Well done to everyone that contested and won a seat in May’s elections.  Commiserations to those that stood, but were unsuccessful.  Particular congratulations to Edinburgh and Worthing Opposition Groups who gained control of their councils.  As Associate Members, we look forward to welcoming them both as Full Council Members.

We’d also like to welcome new Leaders in the Royal Borough of Greenwich, Hull, Newcastle and Oldham – we look forward to meeting you.

We are back on the road this month and looking forward to seeing many of you in person after what’s been a long two years.  On 11 June, we’re exhibiting and running two Workshops at the Cooperative Party Local Government Conference in London.  The following week we’ve workshops and/or exhibitions at Co-operative Congress in Birmingham (17 & 18 June) and at the Labour Local Government Conference at Warwick University (18 & 19 June).  At the end of the month, we’ll be back at the Local Government Association Conference and Exhibition in Harrogate (28 – 20 June) – as a Special Interest Group of the LGA this is the biggest event on our exhibition calendar.

Thank you to everyone that submitted Case Studies for the 2022 edition of our printed pack.  We feature 62 case studies in the latest edition, illustrating some of the many ways that co-operative councils are working with local people to build resilient communities.  There are now 420 case studies on our website.  This month, we feature some of the fabulous examples that feature in the pack.

Finally, I’d like to wish everyone a safe and peaceful Platinum Jubilee celebration.

Stay safe.

Sharon
