Revisit our extensive archive of Members' Updates
I hope that you have had a good summer, and are looking forward to a busy Autumn. We’ll shortly be issuing funding agreements for this year’s Policy Projects. It’s not too late to get involved in these; further details, including contacts, are outlined below. At July’s Executive Oversight Committee, we signed off on several Policy Projects, these were: Brent Council - Employment and Skills Outcomes Based Review, Oldham Council - Cooperative Approaches to Sustainable Food, as well as the Royal Borough of Greenwich’s - Building Community through Cooperation on Woolwich Common Estate. All of these projects are featured in this edition.
Many of you will have received calendar invites for next week’s Policy Lab Launch of the Tackling Violence Against Women & Girls Policy Lab, led by Trafford Council. There are more details in this Update on how you can get yourself on the guest list.
At our September Officer Call, on the 2nd, we’ll be welcoming colleagues from MHCLG to discuss neighbourhood governance under the new English Devolution and Community Empowerment Bill. Officers from Members Councils are welcome to attend the call.
Our new membership year began on 1st August, and Membership invoices will be going out from Oldham Council this month. Please let us know if your invoicing contact or payment arrangements have changed, so that we can process the fees promptly.
In other news, we have several vacancies available for all categories of membership across the Executive Oversight Committee and the Values & Principles Board. Please look out for the self-nomination mailing in the coming weeks and do consider putting yourself forward.
We’re also featuring a Case Study from Affiliate Member ICS.AI, who worked with a council to develop what they argue is the UK’s most extensive public sector AI transformation.
Finally, we’re looking forward to seeing some of you at the Labour Party Conference at the end of the month in Liverpool, where we’re on stand K1.
I hope that you enjoy this edition of Update.
Best wishes
Jim
