CCIN Members’ Update September 2019

Cllr Sharon Taylor OBE- Chair of the CCIN & Leader of Stevenage Borough CouncilWe’ve a busy couple of month’s ahead as we look forward to exhibiting at the Labour and Co-operative Party Conferences and at the Liberal Democrat Party Conference for the first time. Sandwiched between these events is our own Annual Conference which will be held in Rochdale on 1 and 2 October.  It’s the 175th Anniversary since the Rochdale Pioneers set up their shop in the town which became known as the birthplace of the modern co-operative movement.

The Welcome Reception for our our Annual Conference will be held at the Rochdale Pioneers Museum on Tuesday, 1st October, so it’s an ideal opportunity to see it for yourself!

We’re also welcoming three new Members this month – Medway Labour & Co-operative Group and York Labour Group join as Associate Members, and 4OC join as an Affiliate Member.  This brings our membership numbers to 26 Full Councils, 12 Associate Members and 18 Affiliate Members.

Finally, Co-operatives UK has published the Co-op Economy 2019 Report this week.  It is the nation’s only comprehensive report on the UK’s co‑operative sector.  It reveals turnover, membership and employee figures for thousands of co‑op businesses across the UK and is well worth an in depth read.

Best wishes
