October Books, founded in 1977 is based in Portswood Road in Southampton, is a not-for-profit co-operative radical neighbourhood bookshop. Any money made is ploughed back into the business. October Books trades independently from any political organisation and seeks to promote a fair and equal society.  Workers and volunteers come from many different backgrounds who bring diversity to the shop.
